The word "dukkah" is derived from the Arabic "to pound" since the mixture of spices and nuts are pounded together after being dry roasted to a texture that is neither powdered nor paste-like.
It is typically used as a dip with bread or fresh vegetables for an hors d'oeuvre. We love to serve it with some sliced baguette, a dish of our great olive oil and let our guests dip the bread in the olive oil then into the dukkah. It can also be sprinkled on top of lavash bread that has been brushed with olive oil, then baked briefly in the oven to form crackers. It can be used as a crust on baked fish. The uses are endless.
