Pistachio Crusted Fried Feta

Pistachio Crusted Fried Feta


  • 1, 8-ounce block of feta
  • 2 tbsp, all-purpose flour
  • 1, large egg
  • 3 tbsp, shelled pistachios - finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp, Panko
  • salt & pepper
  • pinch of red pepper flakes - optional
  • honey - We used Summerset Farms Black Sage Honey
  • 1/4 cup, il Fustino Basil Olive Oil


Set up three plates for coating your feta. Sprinkle your flour onto the first plate.

For the second plate, beat the egg until combined and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

On the third plate, combine finely chopped pistachios and panko and thoroughly mix.

Pat feta block dry with a clean tea towel. Gently cover all sides in all-purpose flour. Then place in the egg wash and finally coat in the panko and pistachio mixture.

Heat Basil Olive Oil in a small pan over medium high heat. Once oil is heated through ass the crusted feta block and fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Use a spoon to pour some of the hot oil over the sides of the feta block.

Remove from oil and place gently on a serving plate. If using, top with red pepper flakes. Then add a generous drizzle of honey. 

Serve with toasted slices of ciabatta.
